Srinagar, Feb 23 (KNS): Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie, has urged educated youth to explore entrepreneurship in agriculture, citing its vast potential for employment generation and economic growth in Kashmir.
Speaking to KNS on the 10th AgriTech Mela at SKUAST-K’s Shalimar campus, Prof. Ganie emphasized the need for innovation and technology-driven solutions to modernize the agricultural sector. He noted that farming has evolved beyond a traditional occupation into a promising industry with lucrative business opportunities.
To encourage youth participation in agriculture, he highlighted the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) in raising awareness and promoting agri-based startups.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The three-day AgriTech Mela showcases advancements in horticulture, floriculture, and livestock farming, with experts guiding farmers on integrating technology with traditional practices. Prof. Ganie also announced that SKUAST-K will organize agriculture awareness camps across north and south Kashmir to empower farmers and encourage youth-led initiatives in the sector.
The event serves as a platform for farmers, entrepreneurs, and students to explore innovations and opportunities in agriculture, fostering a new wave of agri-entrepreneurs in the region.(KNS)
