Srinagar, February 6 (KNS ): Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari has urged the government to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the killing of driver in Baramulla.
In a media interaction, Bukhari stated that human life is of utmost importance and called for strict protocols to prevent unnecessary loss of life during security operations.
"If necessary, targets should be aimed at vehicles or tires rather than directly at human beings," he said, highlighting concerns over excessive force.
Regarding the detention of a many people following the Ex Serviceman killing incident, Bukhari stressed the need for a thorough investigation but cautioned against troubling innocent people. "Whoever is responsible should face strict punishment, but the process must be fair," he added.
Bukhari also appealed to India's Defense Minister to intervene in the case to ensure justice is served.
Regarding delay in bail of Engineer Rashid, he drew parallels to other high-profile cases where political figures were granted legal relief and called for similar considerations in this matter.
Speaking on the broader political landscape of Jammu & Kashmir, Bukhari reaffirmed his party’s commitment to restoring statehood, protecting land rights, and securing jobs for locals. "Our core agenda has always been the protection of land, jobs, and statehood. We have ensured that no outsider takes away the land of our people. Had it not been for us, half of India would have bought land in J&K by now," Bukhari remarked.
He also pointed out that leaders from rival parties, including the National Conference, have now acknowledged the need to engage with the central government. "Earlier, we were accused of being Delhi's proxies. Now, even the National Conference leaders are saying the same thing—that dialogue with Delhi is the only way forward," he said
Bukhari reaffirmed his commitment to regaining statehood for Jammu & Kashmir, promising that his party would continue fighting for the cause. "By the grace of Allah, we will restore the dignity of our people. Jammu & Kashmir will regain its statehood," he assured his supporters.
He also took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), questioning their handling of law and order in the region over the past seven years.
Bukhari concluded by expressing support for Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, acknowledging his efforts in addressing the region’s issues and calling for a collective approach to resolving human suffering. (KNS).
