Srinagar, June 21 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President, Altaf Bukhari on Friday raised concerns over the Power Development Department's recent decision to significantly increase electricity bills across the region.
As per the post on "X", Bukhari said that bills have surged from Rs 500 to Rs 1050 in some areas, and from Rs 900 to as much as Rs 1600 or Rs 2100 in others, attributing these hikes to the department's inefficiencies in managing transmission losses.
Bukhari said that these hikes are disproportionately affecting both rural and urban residents, especially those from poorer backgrounds.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He stressed that such increases unfairly burden the already struggling populace and urged the LG administration to intervene promptly.
"The LG administration must ensure that administrative failures do not translate into hardships for the poor residents of J&K. This harassment through high electricity charges needs to cease immediately," he added.(KNS)
