New Delhi, Feb 18 (KNS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level meeting today to assess the implementation of the new criminal laws in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting, taking place at North Block, will be attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and top officials from the central and J&K governments, sources said.
Despite law and order being under the direct control of the central government following the region’s reorganization into two Union Territories—Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh—Abdullah has been invited to participate in the discussions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The review will focus on the enforcement of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, which replaced the colonial-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act of 1872. These laws came into effect on July 1 last year.(KNS)
