Srinagar, Dec 13 (KNS): Jammu Kashmir Sikh Coordination Committee today announced implementation of Anand Marriage Act in Jammu and Kashmir, saying it was possible by virtue of SO 597, formalizes a long-pending demand of the Sikh community.
Notably, the Anand Marriage Act was introduced in 1991, but it now stands effectively implemented through the enacted rules of SO 597.
Veteran Sikh leader Sardar Surinder Singh Channi and Advocate Bikram Singh, addressing the media, expressed gratitude to the LG admin for addressing and fulfilling the community's demand.
Special recognition was given to Shrimoni Nangali Sahab Mahant Manjeet Singh, the visionary religious leader who initiated the formation of the Sikh Coordination Committee.
Ajit Singh's efforts were specifically highlighted during the briefing, acknowledging his role in raising and successfully resolving the community's demands.
The press conference was attended by key members, including Harjeet Singh Duke, Rajinder Singh (USF President), Satnam Singh (USF), Karandeep Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Ravinder Singh, Malkit Singh, and Akash Deep Singh.
The Committee commends the collective dedication and contributions of its members, thanking them for their vigorous pursuit that led to the fulfillment of this historic milestone for the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
