Srinagar, August 15 (KNS): A delighted atmosphere was seen at the Apni Party headquarters in Srinagar on Thursday, as party leaders and senior workers gathered to commemorate the nation’s Independence Day.
The event was marked by a jubilant atmosphere as party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari hoisted the tricolor amidst enthusiastic celebrations and nationalistic slogans by those who were present on the occasion.
According to a press note issued here, the party office brimmed with festivity as the party chief raised the national flag. The leaders and senior workers present there sang the national anthem and chanted patriotic slogans.
After the event, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari spoke to the reporters, extending greetings to the people on this Independence Day.
He said, “As we celebrate our nation’s Independence Day today, I extend my warmest greetings to my fellow citizens, especially to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. May this significant day bring prosperity and well-being to all and promote unity and harmony among people of diverse religious faiths and regions across the country. On this day in 1947, India achieved its freedom after a prolonged struggle and tremendous sacrifices against British colonial rule. Being a citizen of a free nation is indeed a profound privilege, thus, it is our shared duty to honor this freedom by upholding the principles of justice and equality in society.”
Responding to a question, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari hoped that assembly elections would be held soon. He said, “For over five years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been deprived of their democratic right to elect their own representatives. He hoped that the elected government would ensure relief for the people. He said, “People have suffered greatly over the past 35 years. I am sure the upcoming elected government will provide solace to the wounds of the people.”
He made it clear that Apni Party is not allied with any political party.
He said, “We are not allied with any political party. In the upcoming elections, we will neither seek support from any political party nor offer support to any party. I am sure that Apni Party will receive the public mandate in these elections.”
