Srinagar, January 26 (KNS): The Apni Party headquarters at Church Lane in Srinagar resonated with patriotic spirit and festive jubilation as party leaders and senior workers gathered to celebrate the country's 76th Republic Day.
The party president, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, flanked by his senior party colleagues, unfurled the national flag with great pride as the leaders and workers joined together in singing the national anthem.
According to a press statement issued here, “Amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm and zeal, the tricolour was proudly hoisted by the party president, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, who was accompanied by his senior party colleagues and workers. The party leaders had gathered at the party office to celebrate Republic Day. On this occasion, the attendees exchanged warm greetings, and sweets were distributed among the participants.”
After the flag unfurling ceremony, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, while speaking with reporters, said, “This is one of the most significant days, which marks the adoption of the country’s constitution—the most vital document that guarantees every citizen of the country all the fundamental rights, ranging from the freedom of speech to the right to live with dignity. Our Constitution is a beacon of democratic principles. Therefore, this day is festive and is being celebrated by everyone across the country.”
Replying to a question about the performance of the government, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said that it is too early to judge the performance of the present government. However, he expressed his wish that this government at least take steps toward the release of detainees.
He said, “Forget whether they will bring back Article 370 or restore statehood. Leave aside their promises of providing 200 units of free electricity, an enhanced quota of ration, regularization of daily wagers, and so on. At the very least, I hope they fulfill their promise of securing the release of our jailed youth.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said that Apni Party, on its inception day on March 8, 2020, had spelled out its agenda, which it has been pursuing since then.
He said, “Apni Party had promised to strive for the protection of land and jobs for the residents of J&K. We compelled the central government to issue a notification ensuring that the people of J&K would have exclusive rights to land and jobs here. Similarly, we will continue our efforts for the restoration of statehood.”
