Srinagar , Aug 16 (KNS): Senior Kashmiri leader Ashok Bhan has lauded the Election Commission of India's decision to conduct assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, with the voting process to be completed by October 1, 2024. Bhan commended the decision for two key reasons: first, it upholds the fundamental democratic principle of replacing the current LG rule with a government led by the people's elected representatives; second, it honors the Supreme Court of India's majesty by ensuring compliance by the Union of India and the ECI.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Bhan noted that the people of J&K have long awaited the opportunity to vote for the assembly, especially after their significant participation in the recent Parliamentary elections. He emphasized that this decision reflects a positive shift in the region, promoting democracy as a means to counteract the negative narrative of bigotry and violence, and instead, fostering peace, development, and inclusive governance as the foundation for the future of "Naya-Kashmir."
