Srinagar, Sep 08 (KNS)*: Defence Minister and senior Bhartiya Janta Party Leader Rajnath Singh, confident of the party’s success in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections, strongly rejected what he described as Congress's claim to restore Article 370.
He stated that as long as the BJP is in power, the abrogation will remain in place.


Singh emphasized the BJP's unwavering commitment to the current status in Jammu and Kashmir, showcasing the region’s development under their leadership.


Speaking during a rally in Ramban District, marking his first public address in the area, Singh expressed gratitude for the warm reception.
He stressed the growing political importance of Jammu and Kashmir in India’s democratic landscape.


“I’m visiting here for the first time, and the love you’ve shown is overwhelming. The elections in Jammu and Kashmir are not just being followed by the people of India but by the world,” Singh said, as per KNS.
The Defence Minister lauded the increased voter turnout since the removal of Articles 370 and 35A, citing it as a testament to the region’s changing political climate. “Voter participation has surged since the abrogation, reflecting a positive shift in Jammu and Kashmir,” Singh noted.

Singh dismissed Congress's warnings that the removal of Article 370 would cause instability. “Critics said Jammu and Kashmir would erupt in violence after the abrogation. Instead, we’ve created lasting peace and no one dares to disrupt it,” Singh declared.


Addressing ongoing discussions about the possible restoration of Article 370, Singh was unequivocal. “Congress can make its claims, but no one has the courage to undo the changes we’ve made. The people are satisfied with the progress,” he said.


Singh underscored the transformation of Jammu and Kashmir from a conflict-ridden region to a hub of tourism and development. He highlighted the 38,000 crore rupees invested in the region since 2019 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and announced further plans to develop border villages.


In conclusion, the Defence Minister assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir of the BJP's continued focus on development and security, promising lasting peace and prosperity in the region.(KNS)
