Black Bear Captured Alive in Sailkanjan, Kulgam; Released in Samthaan Wildlife Sanctuary

 Srinagar, November 13 (KNS): A black bear that had strayed into the residential area of Sailkanjan, located on the DK Marg in Kulgam, was successfully captured alive by the Wildlife Department today. The bear had posed a potential threat to local residents, but swift action by authorities ensured its safe capture without harm.

 
Following the capture, the bear was transported to its natural habitat and released in the Samthaan Wildlife Sanctuary, a designated area known for its conservation efforts and support for wild animals. The department expressed gratitude to the local community for their cooperation during the operation.

However, the incident has sparked further discussions among the community about the importance of preserving natural habitats. Many locals voiced concerns over the increasing encroachment on forests and wildlife areas, which forces wild animals into residential zones. "Deforestation should be stopped to prevent such incidents . We must focus on preserving our environment and plant more trees to maintain the balance between humans and wildlife," said another resident.
 
The Wildlife Department has called for greater awareness and cooperation from the public to ensure both human and animal safety, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to protect forests and wildlife corridors.(KNS)
