Srinagar, Nov 14 (KNS) : Commenting on the Budgam and Nagrota by-election Assembly results, Abdul Gani Vakil, Former Minister and Senior Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference, stated that the victory cannot be termed solely a PDP win.
In a statement issued, “The fact is that other forces, including Aga Ruhullah and Molvi Imran Reza Ansari, directly or indirectly extended support to the PDP candidate. Moreover, the PDP candidate being the son of a respected spiritual leader also influenced the outcome,” he said.
On the Nagrota by-election, Vakil said the results clearly expose a ‘fixed match’ between NC and BJP. “If NC had been serious about defeating the BJP, they would not have fielded such a weak candidate.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThey should either have fielded a strong party leader or supported Harsh Dev Singh, which would have made the contest truly competitive. The weak candidature shows that NC’s intent was never to challenge the BJP,” Vakil stated.
Reacting to the overall results of the Budgam and Nagrota Assembly by-elections, Vakil said that the outcome is a major setback for the ruling National Conference (NC), which has completely failed to keep the promises it made to the people during the last Assembly elections.
He concluded by saying that the people of Jammu & Kashmir are politically mature and can clearly see through opportunistic alliances and behind-the-scenes understandings. Vakil said(KNS)
