Srinagar, Nov 22 (KNS): Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir UT Omar Abdullah on Friday  said the Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet decided on to form a sub-committee to address issues related to reservations.

According to KNS, the decision aims to ensure fairness and justice for all while examining concerns raised by different groups.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah explained that the need for this sub-committee arises from ongoing debates and complaints about the reservation policy. He highlighted concerns from two sides, the open category youth, who feel deprived of their rights, and those already benefiting from reservations, who fear losing their entitlements.

"The Cabinet has decided to establish a three-member sub-committee of ministers to take a holistic view of the reservation issue. They will review past actions, including recent Supreme Court directions, and evaluate whether the government's steps are aligned with those directives," Abdullah said.

He stressed that the goal is to ensure justice for all without depriving anyone of their rightful share. "The sub-committee will provide recommendations for future decisions so that everyone’s rights are protected," he added.

Responding to a question on release of political prisoners, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said: " for that we we need a state, police, law and order, security is with Central Government and is liked after by LG .Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMoreover whenever I have spoken to police department regarding the verification which has become weapon of harrasment as I said in my Assembly address.To a large extent it has been stopped and will be more relief in future ."

He added that resolution has been passed and no one opposed it which has opened a door.

Responding to a question on Congress Chief Kharge's comment on Article 370, he said Congress is not part of the Government and has supported National Conference outside.

He also said that racking up of Assembly resolution on special status by BJP in Jharkhand and Maharashtra is answer to those who said the resolution is nothing.

He also said that he is hopeful that power supply will see improvement this winter.

Regarding the allegations of torture by army in Kishtwar, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that he is hopeful that those who were behind this act should be court Marshalled. (KNS)
