Srinagar, September 30 (Kns): On the eve of voting, the J&K Peoples Conference (PC) has raised serious concerns about a candidate in the Kupwara Assembly segment allegedly engaging in widespread money distribution to secure votes.
In a statement, PC spokesman Adnan Ashraf Mir expressed alarm over the unchecked use of money to influence voters.
"Can the administration please wake up. A candidate in the Kupwara Assembly segment notorious for distributing money is virtually on a money distribution spree. There seems to be absolutely no checks. Nothing at all", Mir said.
The party sharply criticized the administration for failing to curb the misuse of money during elections and raised doubts about the fairness of the process.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
"A humble question to the administration. Is this the new definition of democracy. Will currency notes and goodies define democratic outcomes?" he added.
Mir further asserted that this person was also seen making a group swear by the Kalima.
"Despite such blatant violations, the response from the authorities has been nothing more than a routine ornamental explanation," Ashraf stated, though he expressed confidence that these inducements won’t change the outcome”, he said.
He urged the administration to intensify checks and establish more checkpoints to prevent the illegal distribution of money in the constituency. (KNS)
