Srinagar, June 14(KNS): Devotees visited the Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tullamulla for prayers during the annual Kheer Bhawani Mela in central Kashmir’s Gandarbal district.
The worship of Mata Kheer Bhawani is common among the Kashmiri Pandits. The temple shrine is dedicated to Maharagnya Bhagwati and constructed over a sacred spring.
The temple is associated with Goddess Ragyna Devi, worshipped as Raginya or Kheer Bhawani, an incarnation of Goddess Durga.
The temple symbolizes Hindu-Muslim brotherhood in Kashmir, with local Muslims serving milk to Kashmiri Pandit devotees.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Director General of Police, J&K, Shri R.R. Swain extended greetings to people, particularly the Kashmiri Hindu community.
He emphasized unity and communal harmony. Security was tightened following a terrorist attack on a pilgrim bus in Reasi.
Arrangements were made to transport devotees from Jammu to Tullamulla town of Ganderbal.
Security forces were deployed around the temple complex. An estimated 80,000 migrant Kashmiri Pandits from various parts of India and abroad are expected to visit the five renowned temples in the Valley during the annual fair.(KNS).
