Srinagar, March 21 (KNS): The 25th anniversary of the Chittisinghpora massacre was observed with solemn remembrance, as Sikh community leaders reiterated their demand for an independent probe into the tragic killing of 35 Sikhs on March 20, 2000.

Speaking at a commemoration event, Gyani Rajendra Ji, along with community leaders, paid tribute to the martyrs, emphasizing that their sacrifice will never be forgotten. "The death of a martyr is the life of a nation. Their legacy will endure as long as the sun and moon exist," he said.

At the event, members of the Sachkhand Gurdwara Singh Sabha, including 71-year-old Ishpal Singh, Harman Arvind Singh, Pradhan Manu Kupinder Singh, and social worker Sardar Jaspal Singh, stood together in unity. Recalling the events of that fateful night, speakers described how unknown gunmen entered the village and brutally killed 35 Sikhs, an act they termed as a "cowardly attack."

Citing the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the community leaders expressed pride in their martyrs but voiced anger over the government's failure to deliver justice.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"For 25 years, we have felt abandoned. Whether it was the then National Conference government, the current BJP government, or past PDP and Congress governments, no administration has addressed our grievances," they said.

The speakers highlighted other incidents where Sikhs in Kashmir lost their lives, including killings in Poshkiri and other areas. "We want to open the ears of the government. Our demand is simple—an independent inquiry into this massacre. Who was behind it? What was the reason? After 25 years, we are still waiting for answers," they stressed.

Concluding the event, they vowed to continue commemorating the martyrs each year and to persist in their pursuit of justice. "As long as the sun, moon, and stars remain, we will remember the martyrs of Chittisinghpora and seek the truth," they affirmed. (KNS)
