Srinagar, May 22 (KNS): Mirwaiz Manzil Nigeen, on behalf of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has responded to recent media reports claiming that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Srinagar has filed an FIR against the Mirwaiz and his family regarding the land allotment of his residence in Nigeen. The reports suggest that if the allegations are proven, Mirwaiz’s house and land will be confiscated, and he will be evicted.
As per the statement issued here, Mirwaiz Manzil Nigeen has stated that these claims are baseless and an attempt to malign and harass Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Mirwaiz has received no official intimation or notice regarding this matter, statement said adding that this is part of a continued campaign of misinformation and propaganda against the Mirwaiz, similar to previous accusations in 2018, which were later proven false.
It further reads that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq currently owns no property in Nigeen. The residence and land in question were purchased and built by his father, Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq, in 1973, the same year Mirwaiz Umar was born.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe boundary walls of the property have remained unchanged since that time.
Despite the sensational news released about an "instant booking" by the ACB, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq asserts that he had no knowledge of any such matter as no information or notice was ever communicated to him by the concerned authorities, it furter reads adding that if there were any genuine issues, proper procedure should have been followed, including notifying the Mirwaiz.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and his family member, who is also implicated in the case, are known for their integrity. They maintain that neither of them has, nor will they ever, engage in any immoral or illegal activities, it added.
The Mirwaiz and his representatives view these actions as a clear motive to defame and malign his reputation and call for an end to these baseless allegations and a fair process if any genuine concerns exist, it added.(KNS)
