Srinagar, Dec 14(KNS): The cold wave intensified across Kashmir overnight, with minimum temperatures plunging sharply at most places, officials said on Sunday, as several areas recorded a drop of four to five degrees Celsius compared to the previous day.
Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.9 degrees Celsius, down from 2.0 degrees Celsius a day earlier.
The temperature at Srinagar airport fell to minus 4.0 degrees from 0.6 degrees, while Pulwama recorded minus 4.2 degrees compared to minus 2.7 degrees on Saturday.
Shopian and Budgam also saw a sharp fall, settling at minus 3.7 degrees and minus 3.1 degrees, respectively.
Other areas including Baramulla, Pampore, Anantnag and Bandipora also slipped well below the freezing point.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelZojila Pass recorded a low of minus 17.0 degrees Celsius, indicating severe cold in higher reaches.
In the Jammu region, the fall in temperatures was relatively mild. Jammu city recorded a minimum of 10.3 degrees Celsius compared to 11.4 degrees a day earlier, while Banihal and Bhaderwah recorded lows of 3.8 degrees and 3.6 degrees, respectively.
Ladakh continued to experience sub-zero conditions, with Leh recording minus 5.6 degrees Celsius, Kargil minus 5.2 degrees and Nubra Valley minus 5.7 degrees, all marginally lower than the previous day.(KNS).
