Committed to keep Gurez Pesticide free and promote sustainable farming

Bandipora, Oct 12 (KNS): Vice Chancellor Sheri-Kashmir university of agriculture science and technology Professor Nazir Ahmad Ganie on Saturday in Gurez said that the government is committed to Keep Gurez valley pesticide free and promote sustainable farming in the region.

Speaking with the Kashmir News Observer (KNS), after inaugurating the Administrative cum laboratory building in Dawar Gurez, Ganie said that the department is working to cultivate the crops in Gurez naturally without using any pesticides.

He also inspects various stalls set up by local girls of Tulail and Gurez valley.

He also said that the KVK Gurez is the addition of 20 KVK's in the valley. "We are working to preserve forest medicines, nesh crops like potatoes and Black cumin which are famous in Gurez without disturbing natural biodiversity.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"

“The building was constructed with a cost of 1.70 crore rupees in a short span of time to help farmers in these border areas.”

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Hilal incharge KVK Gurez said that the department is working to teach farmers the scientific techniques about natural farming to increase production of crops.

He also highlights the achievements in the region done by the department which was praised by Ganie and local farmers.

Ganie added, the climate change has affected the production of crops across the country and added the department is making efforts to increase the production of these crops by using scientific techniques.

He was accompanied by Director SKUAST Professor Din Mohd Makhdoomi, SDPO Gurez, KVK Gurez incharge Dr Bilal and other senior officials from the department (KNS).
