Congress Leader Accuses BJP of stripping J&K of its powers

Srinagar, July 29 (KNS): Former Union Minister Bharatsinh Solanki on Monday accused Bhartiya Janta Party of stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its powers.

Adressing a press conference at Party Headquarters, Solanki daid that whether it is about finance, law and order, transfers, or IAS officers, elected MLAs should address these issues in the assembly, and the elected government should run its administration,"

He criticized the BJP-led central government for undermining the region's autonomy and failing to fulfill their promises.

"In Jammu and Kashmir, assembly elections are going to take place, and the Congress Party has made its preparations properly," said Solanki.

He noted that since 2014, there had been no elections, and since 2019, statehood was revoked, placing power in the hands of the Lieutenant Governor (LG).

Solanki pointed out the Supreme Court's directive to hold assembly elections in September. "They wanted to follow the rules of the LG, run it from Delhi, and through the Ministry of Home Affairs," he explained. Despite the central government’s reluctance, the Supreme Court's intervention has pushed for election preparations.

He criticized the BJP's promises to end terrorism and bring normalcy, stating, "We all saw that the situation of Jammu and Kashmir was getting worse.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel" Solanki suggested that the BJP intends to exploit the region's resources and run a proxy government through the LG, likening their actions to colonial exploitation.

"The BJP wants to exploit Jammu and Kashmir's resources and human resources," he said. Solanki also highlighted increasing terrorism, unemployment, and lack of improvement in health and education under BJP rule.

He criticized the central government's budget allocation and unfulfilled promises, "They did not keep any promises and weakened Jammu and Kashmir. If they had increased the budget to bring happiness, reduce inflation, and fill vacant government positions, they could have done a good job."

Solanki emphasized the resolve of Jammu and Kashmir's people, "The people of Jammu and Kashmir have decided to keep the BJP out of the region. They will not let their government come here."

On Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, Solanki noted the positive response from the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "The way the people of Jammu and Kashmir showed their love and blessings to Rahulji, now people are slowly joining the Congress Party. In the upcoming elections, a lot of people will join Congress," he concluded.(KNS)
