Congress stages protest, says people Wants statehood, Peace & Employment, Not Terrorism, Fear"

Jammu, March 29 (KNS):- As per directions of JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra, the Congress party on Saturday organized a massive protest march from Punjtirthi to Prade Chowk in the city against terrorism and Pakistan, and burnt the effigy of Amit Shah for failure to check rising terrorism in Jammu region.

The protest was also against the delay in the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir. Following the protest march, the protestors also burnt an effigy of Home Minister Amit Shah and raised slogans against Pakistan register their anger against terrorism and Pakistan’s role in fostering unrest.

Working Presidents PCC Tara Chand (Ex-Deputy CM) and Raman Bhalla, Former Minister Yogesh Sawhney and DCC President Jammu (U) Manmohan Singh besides AICC Secretary Neeraj Kundan, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, I/C HQ Ved Mahajan, Kanta Bhan T S Tony ,Narinder Sharma,Satish Sharma, & large number of other senior leaders also participated.

Speaking during the protest, Tara Chand strongly condemned the terror attacks and expressed deep grief over the loss of lives of security personnel. He criticized the central government for its inability to maintain peace in the region and called for immediate action to prevent further incidents. "The people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered enough. We demand full statehood with constitutional guarantees to ensure our rights and dignity.

The current administration has failed to provide security to its people, and this is unacceptable," he said. He then added that the people of J&K deserve development, employment opportunities, and a peaceful environment, not fear and uncertainty.

The restoration of statehood is the first step towards rebuilding trust and ensuring democratic rights for our citizens," he asserted.

Raman Bhalla, Working President, JKPCC highlighted the deteriorating security situation and held the centre government accountable for the increasing terror activities in J&K. BJP government has failed to control terrorism.

The people of Jammu and Kashmir are living in fear due to the rise in terror incidents. We will not remain silent while our brave soldiers are being martyred. The restoration of statehood is our fundamental right, and we will continue our struggle till it is achieved, he asserted.

Yogesh Sawhney, Former Minister, J&K, also spoke at the protest, and pointed out the increasing terrorism and lack of improvement in J&K, stating that the central government’s policies have left the locals frustrated. We have also logged this protest against Pakistan for their cowardly terror activities and attempts to cause unrest in our homes. The Indian people will not silent against the cruelty of Pakistan. He further added that instead of providing employment and opportunities, the government is pushing our people into uncertainty by failing to protect the lives of the civilians and security.

Our demand is clear—restore statehood with full rights, control terrorism effectively, and provide jobs to our unemployed youth, he said.

Furthermore, Manmohan Singh District President, Jammu Urban emphasized the importance of unity among the people of J&K in the fight for statehood. He said that we should stand together to oppose terrorism and fight for our rights. The sacrifices of our soldiers will not go in vain. The government needs to wake up and take responsibility for its failures. The people of Jammu and Kashmir will not accept anything less than full statehood with all guarantees, he stated.
