Cooperation Key to Power Stability in J&K: CM Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Dec 26 (KNS):Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted electricity across Jammu and Kashmir through comprehensive power reforms. Speaking on Thursday, he emphasized that achieving 100% metering in the region is a top priority, which will help streamline power usage and minimize unscheduled cuts.

Addressing the media, the Chief Minister explained how excessive and unauthorized electricity consumption strains the system. "Some people have agreements for using power for minimal needs, such as four bulbs, but end up consuming electricity equivalent to running four heaters. This creates immense pressure on the system," he said.
