Demands adequate relief for wind storm affected orchardists of Kulgam, Shopian

 

Kulgam, September 6 (KNS): Hundreds of CPI(M) activists held a protest demonstration at Kulgam demanding immediate and adequate relief to the orchardists whose fruit got damaged due to hail and heavy wind storm in South Kashmir’s Kulgam and Shopian districts recently. The protesters carrying banners and placards, shouting slogans against the administration marched through Kulgam bazar and culminated at DC office.

The protesters urged the government to assess the damages immediately so that the affected orchardists are provided compensation well in time.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThey demanded implementation of the Crop Insurance Scheme in Horticulture and said that non-implementation of the scheme has caused distress among the orchardists. The scheme will provide succor to the orchardists if implemented and will save the fruit growers in the event of losses suffered due to natural calamities.

The protest demonstration was addressed by Kisan leaders Mohamad Afzal Parry, Zahoor Ahmad Rather, Bashir Ahmad Wani, Nazir Ahmad Bhat and Mohammad Abas Rather youth leader.(KNS)
