Poonch May 14 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday visited the conflict-hit areas of Poonch and Rajouri, where she strongly called for declaring all innocent civilians killed in recent violence as martyrs.
During her visit, Mufti demanded a compensation of Rs. 50 lakhs for families whose houses were damaged in the conflict. She also urged the government to provide job security and comprehensive assistance to all victim families, stating that the loss of life and livelihood must be met with both compassion and justice.

“Political solutions, not just military responses, are the key to long-term peace in the region,” she stated, urging the Centre to pursue meaningful dialogue and reconciliation. Highlighting India’s regional role, she also called for strengthening ties with SAARC nations to ensure broader stability.
