Srinagar, Nov 19 (KNS): A Delhi court is expected to deliver its decision Tomorrow on Wednesday regarding the regular bail application of Jammu and Kashmir Lok Sabha member, Engineer Rashid, in a terror-funding case.
The ruling, initially scheduled for Tuesday, was deferred by Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh to November 20. The judge will also decide whether the case should be transferred to the designated MP/MLA court.
Rashid, an MP from Baramulla, had surrendered to Tihar Jail authorities on October 28 after his interim bail expired. In September, the court had granted him interim bail to allow him to campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, later extending it until October 28 due to his father's ill health.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) did not oppose the extension, provided Rashid verified the necessary documents.
Rashid, who has been in Tihar Jail since 2019, was arrested by the NIA in 2017 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with a terror funding case. The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections were held in three phases from September 18 to October 1, with the National Conference-Congress alliance winning 48 seats. (KNS)
