Srinagar, August 11 (KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hinted at the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir, stating they would be held soon, adhering to the sequence laid out by the Indian government.
"You all know that the Prime Minister of India came to Srinagar on June 20th for Yoga Day. On that day, he said that elections would be held as soon as possible. The entire team of the Election Commission also came here," Sinha told reporters here at Jammu.
He also said that all political parties, administrative officials, and other stakeholders had discussions and then returned to Delhi.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"What will be the date of the elections? I think that this election right is the special right of the Election Commission," he added.
Referencing the statement made by the Home Minister, Sinha said that as on 5th August 2019, the Home Minister of India had said in the Parliament that delimitation first, then assembly election, then statehood at an appropriate time. Things will go on in the same sequence," he said.
"I hope that the elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held soon," he added.(KNS)
