Aishmuqam, April 12 (KNS): Thousands of devotees gathered at the famous shrine of Hazrat Zain-ud-Din Wali (RA) in Aishmuqam to celebrate the annual Mashaal Festival, locally called 'Zool'.
The age-old tradition, held on the 13th day of Baisakh, marks the Urs (death anniversary) of the 15th-century Sufi saint. The festival is known for its grand torchlight procession, where pilgrims carry flaming torches and climb the hilltop path to the shrine, offering prayers and seeking blessings.
As night fell, the glowing torches lit up the surroundings, creating a deeply spiritual scene as people remembered the saint’s teachings of peace, brotherhood, and unity.
People from various religious backgrounds joined the celebration, showing Kashmir’s rich history of communal harmony and shared traditions.
Local authorities had put security and traffic arrangements in place to ensure a smooth and safe festival for all visitors.
The annual gathering remains one of the most important events in South Kashmir, attracting large crowds who come to honor the saint and celebrate the spirit of unity and peace. (KNS)
