Srinagarl Oct 8 (KNS)Director of Health Services Kashmir,(DHSK) Dr Jehangir Bakshi along with the Divisional team, today conducted an extensive visit to Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) Hospital Srinagar, the apex hospital of the Directorate. The visit aimed to assess the current status of hospital facilities and address key areas requiring immediate attention.
During the tour of the new building, the Director visited the CT Scan section and highlighted the need to expedite the delivery of the MRI machine, which has already been processed through the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd (JKMSCL). The Director urged the concerned officers to follow up on the procurement process to ensure timely installation and operation.
The Director held discussions regarding the completion of the new hospital building. Emphasis was placed on accelerating the remaining construction works to make the entire facility fully operational.
The Director stressed the importance of ensuring that the hospital’s Operation Theatres function 24x7 for conducting various specialized surgeries. He directed the concerned officers to prioritize the augmentation of both human resources and equipment required to make this possible, thereby enhancing surgical care at the hospital.
The Director conducted a detailed review of the work being done in the Surgical and Medical Intensive Care Units (ICUs). He examined the overall functionality of these critical care units and provided guidance to improve patient management and care delivery.

The Director reviewed the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Program, which has significantly contributed to the hospital’s patient care services. The Director acknowledged the positive impact of the program on improving both the training of medical professionals and the delivery of specialized care to patients.
Furthermore, the Director reviewed the progress of various National Health Programs being implemented at JLNM Hospital. He emphasized the need to meet the set targets under these schemes and directed the hospital administration to ensure that all efforts are made to achieve them. The Director also stressed the importance of the hospital qualifying for the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification, urging the staff to focus on maintaining high standards of care, infrastructure, and service delivery in line with NQAS guidelines.
This visit underlines the Directorate’s commitment to improving the quality of healthcare services at JLNM Hospital, ensuring that the hospital operates at its full potential for the benefit of the community.
During the whole visit the DHSK was accompanied by MS JLNM Hospital and his team who briefed the director about the status of health care services being provided to the patients and issues that need to be addressed.A threadbare meeting was also held in the conference hall of the hospital.(KNS)
