Srinagar, Nov 23(KNS): A one-day workshop on the investigation of special cases, focusing on UAPA and NDPS, was organized by the Range Police Headquarters North Kashmir at District Police Lines Baramulla.
The workshop was conducted under the supervision of DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood Ul Zaman, in collaboration with the Prosecution Department and retired Police Officers.
Guest speakers invited to share their knowledge and experience included Mohd Ashraf Bakhshi (DDP Baramulla), Gulzar Ahmad (CPO DPO Baramulla), Rafi Ahmad Mir (CPO UAPA Court Baramulla), Ghulam Haider Badhana (Rtd. SSP), Rafiq Ahmad Vakil (Rtd. SSP), Shabir Ahmad Shah (Rtd. Dy.SP), and Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh (Rtd. Dy.SP). Investigating officers, including GOs and NGOs from districts of North Kashmir, attended the workshop.
In his inaugural address, DIG NKR, Maqsood Ul Zaman, welcomed the participants and explained that the objective of the workshop was to enhance the investigation skills of officers and update them on the SOPs for investigating special cases such as UAPA and NDPS.
He emphasized the importance of securing convictions in such cases and outlined the multifaceted role of police officers in investigating narcotics-related crimes, gathering intelligence, executing seizures, and ensuring safe handling of evidence.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He also highlighted the challenges faced in such cases, noting that professional investigations are crucial for ensuring justice and maintaining public confidence in the legal system.
The workshop featured discussions and brainstorming sessions led by guest speakers from the Prosecution Department and retired Police Officers. These sessions addressed common issues and gaps observed during investigations and court convictions.
The DIG NKR thanked the guest speakers for their contributions and expressed his hope that the knowledge shared would assist the investigating officers in handling future cases effectively.
