Director JKEDI e-inaugurates 3 EDPs under SANKALP at Ramban Urges aspirants to take entrepreneurship as career

Jammu, March 14 (KNS): Director Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Rajinder Kumar Sharma (JKAS) on Thursday e-inaugurated three training programs under Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) for aspiring entrepreneurs at Ramban.

The 5-day Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDPs) are being conducted at Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Banihal, Ramban and Government Higher Secondary School, Batote in which 120 aspirants have been enrolled. The trainees include entrepreneurs who have started their business ventures and aspiring entrepreneurs who intend to become self reliant under different government sponsored schemes. The training programmes are been organized under the banner of Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) by the district administration Ramban.

While interacting with the trainees, Director JKEDI, Rajinder Kumar Sharma (JKAS) urged them to choose entrepreneurship and self employment to reduce the dependency on government jobs. He directed the JKEDI district officers to facilitate the training programs for the prospective entrepreneurs in a professional manner and make it interactive so that the aspirants are motivated to take up entrepreneurship as their career option. He also urged the course team to brief the participants about the different facets J&K Startup Policy 2024-27 so that they are able to avail its benefits in future.

Another aspirant, Lalita Devi from Batote who runs a mushroom cultivation unit said she is happy to be part of the SANKALP training program and hopes that it will help her to realise her dream of becoming a “Lakhpati Didi”.

SANKALP which aims at strengthening the institutional mechanisms for skill developmentand increase access to quality and market-relevant training for youth across the country, was launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.  

During the 5-day EDP, the participants will be apprised about basic business concepts like business plan formulation, marketing plans, accounts management and other topics of relevance, so that they can successfully run their businesses. The participants have already received sector-specific short-term technical training in their chosen businesses, and now will benefit from JKEDI's specially curated training modules.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Ramban Basit Khurshid, Course Coordinator, Sheikh Ashraf and Yashpaul Sharma, Trainer.(KNS)
