Director Sericulture J&K Chairs Review Meeting on CAPEX, HADP & CSS Schemes

Srinagar, September 17 (KNS): Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, IAS, Director Sericulture J&K today chaired a comprehensive review meeting with the officers of Kashmir Division at the Directorate of Sericulture, Srinagar. The meeting was aimed to assess the physical and financial progress made under the ongoing CAPEX, Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) being implemented by the department.

While reviewing the status of expenditure and physical achievements, the Director emphasized the urgent need to accelerate the pace of work and improve utilization of funds across all schemes to ensure timely delivery of benefits to the silkworm rearers and other stakeholders associated with the sector. He underlined that judicious and timely expenditure of available resources is crucial for maximizing the impact of developmental interventions in sericulture.

The meeting also took a detailed stock of progress made in cocoon production, silkworm seed distribution, and mulberry plantation activities across the valley. Mr. Bhat highlighted the importance of focusing on quality seed production and expanding mulberry plantation to strengthen the foundation of sericulture in the Union Territory.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Addressing the officers, the Director impressed upon them to work with zeal, dedication and a mission-oriented approach for restoring the past glory of the Sericulture Department in J&K. He stressed that the sericulture sector, being a traditional and eco-friendly livelihood source, holds vast potential for improving the socio-economic conditions of farmers and youth if harnessed efficiently under the available schemes and programmes.

The Director further instructed the officers to ensure close monitoring of field activities, maintain transparency in implementation and provide all possible support to silkworm rearers for enhancing their income and productivity. He reiterated that achieving tangible results under CAPEX, HADP, and CSS schemes is imperative to put the sericulture sector of J&K on a sustainable growth trajectory.

The meeting concluded with a call for collective efforts and renewed commitment from the officers to strengthen the sericulture sector and contribute significantly to the rural economy of Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by all the officers of J&K physically and on virtual mode by Jammu based officers.(KNS)
