Jammu April 20 (KNS): Director Sericulture J&K, who is on extensive tour of Jammu Division chaired a comprehensive review meeting in the Directorate of Sericulture Development Department J&K, Camp Office B.C Road Jammu before visiting various establishments, Mulberry Nurseries/Farms, CRCs, Seed Stations, Grainages etc. across Jammu Division. During the meeting the Director Sericulture J&K had a threadbare discussions with all the officers of Jammu Division to review the progress of initiatives of the department for expansion of Sericulture activities and bolster Silkworm Seed and Cocoon Production. Besides, the Director Sericulture J&K also took review of the developmental works presently in progress and stressed on the need to speed up the pace of all the works being executed at different locations in Jammu Division to strengthen the infrastructure of the department for effective execution of sensitive and delicate silkworm seed production and breeding operations.
During the proceedings of the meeting, the Director Sericulture J&K emphasized the crucial need to make necessary arrangements for organizing Cocoon Auction Markets for timely auctioning of the cocoon crop of the local and tribal Silkworm Rearers/ famers of Jammu Division. He also exhorted upon the officers that all the arrangements must be made promptly in Cocoon Auction Markets to provide all the facilities to the Silkworm Rearers and farmers for their convenience. Additionally, he stressed that the eligible beneficiaries must be facilitated with requisite benefits which are being provided by the department under various schemes including Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) expeditiously.
During the concluding session of the meeting he emphasized the importance of timely completion of breeding operations and highlighted the necessity for synchronization of seed cocoons to maximize efficiency and productivity. In this backdrop he exhorted upon all the field functionaries of the Department to work with dedication and remain present during different technical operations as well as breeding operations at their respective Seed Stations keeping into consideration the delicate technical operations which are time bound and highly sensitive in nature.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The meeting was attended by the Additional Director, Sericulture Development Department, Jammu, Development Officer, ISDP, Rajouri, all District Sericulture Officers of Jammu Division and the Manager Seeds of the Department.
The Director Sericulture J&K after concluding the meeting undertook an extensive visit of Jammu Division with an aim toevaluate the breeding operations currently underway across different Seed Stations and oversee field activities at various mulberry farms and nurseries of the department.
Furthermore, the Director Sericulture J&K visited the Basic Silkworm Seed Station at Miran Sahib, Jammu, where he inspected the ongoing construction work of the Rearing Cum Breeding Centre. During his visit to the site he took stock of the progress of infrastructure development to ensure its alignment with the department's objectives. Moreover, the Director Sericulture J&K also met with the Officials of Regional Sericultural Research Station at Miran Sahib Jammu and interacted with the Students of Poonch university campus who are presently undergoing 45 days training at the said Research Institute of CSB. During his interaction with the Students the Director Sericulture J&K committed that the Department shall make concerted efforts for ensuring exposure tours for students also so that they shall come across various Sericulture practices being carried out for different technical operations of the department.
The Director Sericulture J&K also visited P2 Basic Silkworm Seed Station at Malyal in Marh Block of District Jammu which has been upgraded for Silkworm Seed Production operations. He concluded his extensive tour of Jammu Division by inspecting Cocoon Warehouse, CRC and Mulberry Farms/ Nurseries spanning over an area of more than 300 Kanals of land with a capacity of growing more than 2.00 lac Mulberry Plants at Talab Tiloo and ChackLal Din of District Jammu.
The Director Sericulture J&K reiterated his commitment to foster the growth and development of sericulture in the region.
