Srinagar March 16 (KNS): In a remarkable display of community engagement and environmental stewardship, the District Administration of Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO), successfully launched a MEGA PLANTATION DRIVE with the ambitious MISSION 50,000.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various educational institutions across the district. Their energy and dedication to the cause of environmental conservation were truly inspiring.
DC Ganderbal, Shyambir Singh (IAS), highlighted the importance of trees as the soul of our lives, emphasizing the critical role they play in sustaining our ecosystem and ensuring a healthy environment for all. His words resonated with the participants, igniting a sense of responsibility towards nurturing and preserving our natural surroundings.
Manzoor Wangnoo, Chairman of NLCO, expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts and announced that NLCO would adopt the trees planted during the drive at Budergund in Ganderbal. Apart from the plantation drive, the process of Spring restoration in the area took place. This commitment further solidifies the long-term impact of the initiative and underscores the collective responsibility we share in safeguarding our environment.

The successful launch of the MEGA PLANTATION DRIVE marks a significant step towards achieving this shared goal of planting 50,000 trees in Ganderbal. It was unanimously resolved to make Ganderbal green, with the resounding slogan: "Apna Wada Nibhayengay, Ganderbal ko Sajayengay.
Chairman NLCO in a statement said that “I am deeply moved by the overwhelming support and participation we witnessed today. Special thanks to the students of SSM college, Salvator International School, and Bilaliya Educational Institute who joined us despite their busy examination schedules. Your dedication is truly commendable. Also grateful to the eminent guest and eco warriors especially Nadeem Qadri, Dr. Tauseef Bhat, Abdul Rashid, Rizvi Amjad and volunteers of NLCO for their presence and active participation.
