Bandipora, September 19 (KNS): The District Hospital (DH) Bandipora has called for an enquiry to fix responsibility for two incidents involving patient deliveries under unusual circumstances owing to alleged mishandling of patient referrals and emergency care.
The Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the matter to fix responsibility and submit the report within 03 days.
The committee, comprising Dr Zamir Lone (Consultant OB&G), Dr Imtiyaz Ahmad (Medical Officer, MD Medicine), and Mr Aubair Hussain (Pr Manager, DMHP), has been tasked with investigating why a patient delivered during transit in an ambulance while being referred for obstructed labour as well as the case of a second patient who delivered on road in Kulhama village after being discharged from the hospital.
The committee has been asked to gather facts surrounding both cases, particularly the circumstances that led to the patient delivering while in transit and the discharge of another patient who later delivered on the road in Kulhama.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The inquiry will include a review of medical records, incident reports, and witness statements. The committee will also interrogate the accused hospital staff involved in both cases.
The Committee will also evaluate the existing protocols for emergency responses and patient referrals, identifying any shortcomings and suggesting improvements.
MS has asked the committee to recommend training or system changes as needed to improve the healthcare services.
The district hospital has been in the news for the past many months over unnecessary referrals during wee hours owing to the absence of expert staff in the hospital.
Locals have time and again informed the administration about the handling of emergency cases by trainee nurses and have warned of serious accidents owing to the shortcomings. “District Administration will wake up only when (Gid Forbid) a major accident takes place owing to these mishandlings,” said a local.
