Chennai, Aug 12 (KNS) : Veteran statesman, scholar, and cultural ambassador Dr. Karan Singh was conferred the prestigious Era Sezhiyan Award at a grand ceremony at VIT Vellore’s Chennai campus. The award, recognising outstanding contributions to society and culture, was presented in the presence of several dignitaries, including former Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu, who presided over the function.
Organised under the leadership of VIT Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan, who personally invited Dr. Karan Singh, the event drew a distinguished audience of academicians, students, and cultural enthusiasts.

Highlighting the classical dance form Bharatanatyam, he described it as “a perfect synthesis of beauty, discipline, and devotion” that continues to inspire artists nationwide.
Expressing gratitude, Dr. Karan Singh said, “Recognition such as this strengthens my resolve to keep working for the preservation and promotion of India’s diverse cultural traditions.
