Srinagar, Oct 20 (KNS): Anjuman Srinagar Cultural Forum organized a literary event on Sunday to release the book Noori Wahid, authored by Dr. Mirza Rouf Hussain Beigh, a physician and noted literary figure from the Valley. The function was held at Standard Public High School, Srinagar, and attended by scholars, writers, poets, and literary enthusiasts.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent personalities, including scholar Dr. Ghulam Ali Gulzar, Convener of the Kashmiri Board, Sahitya Akademi New Delhi; Prof. Shad Ramzan; broadcaster and writer Bashir Arif; physician-poet Dr. Shakeel Shafai; poet-journalist Imdad Saqi; and writer-broadcaster Abid Gowhar.
The event began with Tilawat and Naat recitations by students of the host school, followed by proceedings conducted by Syed Abid Gowhar.

A detailed review of the book was presented by Gowhar, who highlighted its thematic depth and linguistic richness.
Prof. Shad Ramzan described the work as reflecting “faith and devotion, with verses that convey inner illumination and spiritual discipline.” Dr. Ghulam Ali Gulzar said the poetry bridges science and spirituality, while Bashir Arif called it “a spiritually rich addition to devotional literature in Urdu and Kashmiri.”
Speakers praised Dr. Rouf for his dual contributions to medicine and literature, commending his commitment to enriching the region’s contemporary poetic tradition.
The event concluded with remarks from award-winning artist Arshid Sauleh, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, and the host institution for supporting the literary function.(KNS).
