Dr Sheikh Ajaz Bashir is new Director Colleges J&K


 Srinagar, July 09 (KNS): The J&K Government on Monday appointed Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges and Principal Amar Singh College, as Director Colleges Higher Education Department for UT of J&K. The appointment has been made by the Higher Education Department Vide Govt. order No : 366-JK(HE) of 2024, dated: 08-07-2024, for  a   period  of   two  years. The order also mentions that Prof. Ajaz Bashir will hold the charge of Principal Amar Singh College and Nodal Principal Kashmir Division colleges in addition to the post of Director colleges till further orders.

The selection was made by a committee framed vide Govt. Order No 475-JK(GAD) of 21 Dated: 31.05.2021, who invited Applicants for interaction with the  selection committee  headed  by  Principal  Secretary   Higher Education with  special  secretary   Higher  Education , Director  Finance  Higher Education , Additional   Secretary   General  Administrative Department  , Additional  secretary  ARI Trainings  and  Additional   secretary  Law   as  its   members.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Ph. D in electronics Prof. Aijaz Bashir has been a prominent academician and administrator. Prof. Aijaz is also the member of prestigious Higher Education Council UT of J&K.  He has served Higher Education Department for a Period spanning more than thirty years. Currently serving at Amar Singh College, Lead constituent college of Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. Ajaz has exhibited his resourcefulness in revamping infrastructure of the college.  Prof. Ajaz had also previously headed Islamia College Srinagar for a period of four years leading the autonomous college to unprecedented heights. During his tenure Islamia College of Science and commerce set new bench marks of academic excellence. Prof. Ajaz took enterprising initiatives, that included launch of Honors, IG and PG Programs and augmentation of infrastructure, while serving the institution.

The college fraternity has viewed the appointment as a welcome change, considering the unrelenting dedication and steadfastness of Prof. Sheikh  Ajaz Bashir. They are confident that the incumbent will persistently work for the advancement of Higher Education and will also effectively address long pending tasks and bring about meaningful resolutions.(KNS)
