E-Bus Services to Expand to Handwara, Bandipora Soon: SMC Commissioner


Srinagar, Feb 25 (KNS):Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Commissioner Owais Ahmad has announced plans to expand the electric bus (E-Bus) service to North Kashmir, particularly Handwara and Bandipora districts.  

Speaking on the development, Ahmad stated that the demand for E-Bus services from these areas has been acknowledged, and the feasibility of operations is being explored. "The distances are manageable, and buses can operate efficiently. If charging infrastructure is required, we have provisions to establish it," he said.  

The commissioner further highlighted that an additional fleet of 100 E-Buses is expected under the PM E-Bus Sewa scheme.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"We currently have 100 E-Buses, and another 100 have been committed under the scheme. The tendering process is underway at a centralized level, and we will soon be able to share the expected delivery date," he added.  

Ahmad assured that once the additional buses arrive, services will be extended to Handwara and Bandipora, enhancing eco-friendly transportation in the valley  (KNS)
