Encounter breaks out in J-K's Kishtwar

 Kishtwar, Jan 18(KNS): An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in the Singpura area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district on Sunday, officials said.

 
The exchange of fire began during an ongoing search operation launched following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area, officials said.

Security forces had intensified searches in the forested and hilly terrain of Chatroo over the past few days as part of a multi-day cordon-and-search operation, they said.
 
Firing started when the forces zeroed in on suspected hideouts, prompting the terrorists to open fire, officials added.(KNS).
