Er Rashid Seeks Removal of Irrigation Charges for Saidpora Residents

Karnah, Oct 20(KNS): Member of Parliament Er Rashid began a two-day visit to Karnah today, engaging with top army officials and local stakeholders to address pressing issues affecting the region.

During his meeting with civil and army authorities, Er Rashid raised concerns about locals being unable to cultivate land beyond the LoC fencing, Er Rashid received assurances from authorities that these issues would be resolved promptly. He also discussed plans to relocate frisking operations at Sadhnatop to mitigate winter risks, as the area is prone to snow avalanches. During meeting, Er Rashid emphasized the importance of promoting pilgrimage tourism in Teetwal by urging govt to allow pilgrims from both sides of LoC. Er Rashid proposed the construction of a cultural heritage museum to preserve the rich history of the area.

Later, Er Rashid visited the remote village of Saidpora Forward, where the people living beyond the LoC fencing shared their daily struggles with him. With deep emotion, they spoke about their dire need for proper road and most urgently, irrigation water. The villagers revealed that they rely on water from Pakistan-Administered Jammu Kashmir (PaJK) to irrigate their lands and astonishingly, they are forced to pay for this essential lifeline. Moved by their plight, Er Rashid passionately called on the PaJK authorities to put an end to these unfair charges, emphasizing that access to water, the source of life and livelihood, should never come at such a cost—especially when unity between people on both sides of the LoC is so often claimed.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
