Srinagar, Oct 11(KNS): a groundbreaking initiative, the Faculty of Forestry at SKUAST-K commenced its Kisan Lavender Training Programme. The event is being organized by the Division of Forest Products and Utilization and supported by HDFC Bank and ISAP Enterprise Impact.
During the inauguration ceremony, Prof. P.A Sofi, Head of the Division of Forest Products and Utilization, shared valuable insights into lavender cultivation techniques and underscored its significant potential in the region of Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Sofi also shed light on lavender's global market prospects, emphasizing its economic viability. He warmly welcomed the trainees and provided a comprehensive overview of the training program.
Addressing the audience, Prof. S.A Gangoo, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, emphasized lavender's role in generating livelihoods and highlighted its numerous benefits as a valuable crop. The training program aims to educate and empower participants on various aspects of lavender cultivation. Fifteen candidates, including Subject Matter Specialists, will receive specialized training, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to thrive in the lavender cultivation sector.
