Jammu, March 07 (KNS): State Secretary CPI(M) Mohamad Abass Rather has said that budget, presented in the J&K Assembly after seven years, had raised significant public expectations. However, the necessary financial support from the Government of India was not provided as required, leaving the concerns of farmers and daily wagers unaddressed. Nonetheless, the party welcomes provisions such as free ration and free electricity under AAY. But electricity woes continue unabated with freqent power cuts in the region which needs to be addressed.
He said that while there are numerous issues concerning the people of J&K, the government has limited resources at its disposal.
“Unemployed youth, casual labourers, and daily wagers were expecting major relief in the budget, but their concerns have been overlooked,” he said.
The CPI(M) leader said that the plight of farmers and the need for a Minimum Support Price (MSP) guarantee for their crops is of utmost importance.

He further stressed the need to revamp the system, particularly in addressing the concerns of contractual employees. “Daily wagers, casual laborers, and workers under schemes like NHM and ICDS are struggling with meager wages. This issue needs urgent attention,” he said. College contractuals are getting meagre wages.
While welcoming provisions like free ration, free electricity, and free transport for women, Rather added that pressing issues must be addressed immediately.
Lower income groups are strugglings to clear their electricity bills which are in thousands and need one time remission. Pension to disable persons not enhanced.
The issue needs immediate redessal.
“After a long wait, the people of J&K have finally elected a government, and it must take responsibility for redressing their grievances,” he said.(KNS)
