Srinagar, Jan 09 (KNS): National Conference (NC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government, urging both to work together for the region’s development rather than engaging in conflicts.

Responding to remarks by NC MP Aga Ruhullah, who suggested that Omar Abdullah risks being perceived as a "Centre's man," Farooq Abdullah dismissed the claims, affirming Omar’s commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Omar Abdullah is the people’s Chief Minister. He is not acting on anyone’s directives. Do you want us to fight with the Centre?” he said during an interaction with reporters in Jammu, as reported by KNS.

The NC leader underscored the necessity of maintaining a functional relationship with the Centre to address the pressing issues of the region.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“We are not aligned with the BJP, but we must work with the Centre for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. Confrontation will only hinder progress. Without cooperation, how can we build schools and hospitals or address people’s problems?” he asked.

Farooq Abdullah also clarified the party's stance on a controversy involving a BSF Commandant accused in a paper scam, who reportedly sought to join the National Conference. “I was unaware of his alleged involvement in a case. He will not be allowed to join NC until he secures a clean chit,” he stated. (KNS)
