Srinagar, Apr 11 (KNS): National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah has urged the central government to take serious and concrete steps for the safe return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a cultural event in Srinagar, he said that the government must prioritize the return of the displaced community and ensure an environment of peace and security.
Dr. Abdullah highlighted that the biggest challenge in facilitating their return is the prevailing lack of peace. He said that unless normalcy is restored, it will be difficult to convince Kashmiri Pandits to come back.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"Some neighbouring countries do not want peace here. Hatred and tension will only worsen the situation," he said.
The former Chief Minister also cast doubts over the recent announcement of 12 separatist outfits joining mainstream politics. He termed the development a "fake show" and questioned the sincerity of these groups. "How can this be seen as a positive step when Jama Masjid remains shut on Fridays and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is not even allowed to enter the mosque?" he questioned. (KNS)
