Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNS): Shantmanu (IAS), Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Higher Education Department, paid a visit to Amar Singh College yesterday evening, marking his first visit to any college in the Kashmir Division. He was accompanied by Director Colleges, Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Ajaz Bashir.
On his arrival, Shri Shantmanu was accorded a Guard of Honour by the NCC Cadets of the college and was warmly welcomed by the Principal, Prof. Aijaz Ahmad Hakak, along with faculty members. A comprehensive presentation was made by the Principal on the academic, administrative, and developmental progress of the institution, along with its future vision plan.
During his visit, Shri Shantmanu took a detailed review of the college’s academic performance, enrolment trends, gender parity, student-faculty ratio, and infrastructural development.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe also inspected the newly constructed state-of-the-art Science Block and the fully automated college library, equipped with RFID technology. The college librarian demonstrated the automated system, showcasing searching, issuance, and return of books efficiently through the RFID system.
Interacting with the Principal and faculty members, Shri Shantmanu emphasized the importance of competency-building for personal excellence. He highlighted key areas such as the role of the Art of Living in professional growth, drug de-addiction initiatives, and mental health support for students.
The visit concluded with Shri Shantmanu reiterating the commitment of the Higher Education Department to fostering academic excellence and holistic student development in the region. (KNS)
