Srinagar, June 29(KNS): Five soldiers of the Army drowned after their T-72 tank was swept away while crossing a river near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh's Nyoma-Chushul area early Saturday.

The incident, which occurred during a 1 am exercise near Mandir Morh, led to the tank sinking due to flash floods.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Sinha a post on 'X' said: "Deeply saddened at the loss of lives of five of our brave Indian Army soldiers in an unfortunate accident while getting the tank across a river in Ladakh"
