Bandipora, April 2, 2025 (KNS): In an operation against illegal logging, the forest field staff of Ashtangoo Block, under the supervision of Block Officer (BO) Firdous Shah, successfully apprehended five timber smugglers in the dense forests of Halmatpora Aloosa during the intervening night of April 1-2, 2025. The crackdown took place in Compartment 9/Kh, where a significant quantity of illicit timber was recovered from the accused.

Acting on a tip-off, the vigilant forest team launched a swift operation to curb the illegal felling and transportation of timber in the region. The smugglers, attempting to transport the timber under the cover of darkness, were caught red-handed by the team, ensuring a major setback to the illicit trade in the area.

The seized material has been taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the offenders. The Forest Department has reiterated its unwavering commitment to preserving the ecological balance and maintaining strict vigilance against illegal encroachments.
