Srinagar, July 07 (KNS): Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir R R Swain on Sunday said that the flow of information from Human Intelligence is suggesting that terrorism is near end in J&K.
Speaking to reporters here at srinagar, DGP said that every incident is taken seriously. "We aim to dismantle the support base for terrorism. Our goal is to maintain peace and harmony by building on these successes."
On being asked about the two ongoing encounters in Kulgam, DGP said that six terrorists have been killed in twin encounters so far. These operations mark significant milestones and demonstrate the strength of our security architecture, he said.
Replying a question on identification of slain terrorists, DGP said that operations are still underway. Initial reports suggest the presence of local terrorists, but further clarity will come as operations conclude.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
DGP Swain noted that while statistics alone do not capture the entire security situation, every incident is taken seriously.
He said that there have been attempts to reactivate old terrorist networks in the Jammu region, but these efforts have not achieved significant success.
The DGP said that there is strong collaboration among the Jammu Kashmir Police, Indian Army, various agencies, and Central Armed Police Forces, with public playing an important role in achieving these successes and maintaining security.
Swain said that while isolated incidents have occurred, the ecosystem that once supported widespread terrorism in areas like Gandoh, Dodda, and Udhampur is no longer present which represents a major success in the broader fight against terrorism.(KNS)
