Ganderbal Police Arrest Notorious Drug Peddler; Contraband Seized

Ganderbal, August 19, (KNS): In a decisive move against the drug menace, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Ganderbal district have arrested a notorious drug peddler within the jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal. A substantial quantity of contraband substances was seized during the operation.

Acting on credible information, the Ganderbal Police learned that Omer Fayaz Bhat, son of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat and resident of Shaltang, Srinagar, who worked as a private driver with SSB 03CC at Rakh Harran Forest Protection Unit, Ganderbal, had concealed a brown sugar-like substance in a forest hut at Rakh Harran. The accused intended to sell the contraband to local youth, contributing to the growing drug problem in the area.

Under the direct supervision of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Wasim Qadri-JKPS, a special police team led by SHO PS Ganderbal, Shri Manzoor Ahmad, swiftly moved to the location.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDuring the search, the team recovered and seized the contraband substance in the presence of an Executive Magistrate 1st class. The accused, Omer Fayaz Bhat, was subsequently arrested.

A case has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal under FIR No. 210/2024, and further investigation is underway under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
