Baramulla Dec 21(KNS): Government Degree College (Autonomous), Baramulla, hosted a one-day training programme on the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) at the Jaanbaaz Wali Auditorium. The programme, aimed at enhancing awareness and understanding of ABDM, was attended by around 150 staff and students from GDC Baramulla, GDC Sopore, GCW Baramulla, and GCW Sopore. The event focused on promoting digital health solutions and capacity-building to ensure an inclusive and efficient healthcare system.
The programme commenced with the soulful rendition of the College Tarana, setting a tone of pride and commitment for the day. Moderated by Coordinator IQAC, Dr. Syed Mutahar Aaqib, the event proceeded smoothly with active engagement from participants.
Principal Prof. Mohammad Shafi Lone delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the transformative impact of ABDM in revolutionizing healthcare through digital platforms. He highlighted the issuance of ABHA Cards, which facilitate financial inclusion and streamline healthcare accessibility for underserved communities, and the broader role of ABDM in creating a seamless exchange of health information.
Prof. Tariq A. Chalkoo, Staff Secretary, elaborated on the pivotal role of educational institutions in aligning with national health initiatives. He highlighted advancements in disease prognosis driven by digital innovations and underscored the importance of mentor-mentee models in addressing health-related challenges. Prof. Chalkoo emphasized that institutions play a vital role in building awareness and bridging gaps in healthcare delivery systems.
The expert sessions featured two notable consultants associated with ABDM in Jammu and Kashmir. Ms. Duha Majeed, Capacity Building Consultant, delivered a comprehensive presentation on ABDM, detailing its vision, mission, and core components, including the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA). She explained that ABHA serves as a unique digital health identifier for every citizen, facilitating secure and accessible health records.
Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelOther key components discussed included the Health Facility Registry (HFR), which ensures a verified database of hospitals, clinics, and labs, and the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR), which maintains updated records of verified healthcare professionals. She also elaborated on the Personal Health Record (PHR) App, which enables seamless access to individual health records, and the Unified Health Interface (UHI), an open network facilitating interoperability in healthcare delivery. Ms. Majeed highlighted ABDM’s guiding principles, especially the emphasis on privacy, security, and equitable access to healthcare data.
Ms. Sheeba Ahmed, HMIS Consultant, focused on the QR code-based OPD registration system, explaining its efficiency in streamlining patient registrations, reducing human errors, and expediting healthcare services. She also introduced the Digital Health Incentive Scheme, which encourages healthcare institutions to adopt digital health technologies and strengthen their digital infrastructure. Ms. Ahmed emphasized that such initiatives aim to improve healthcare delivery and ensure better data accessibility for all stakeholders.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Aaliya Akhtar, NSS Officer, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, organizers, and participants for their active involvement in making the event a success.
