Srinagar, Dec 23 (KNS): The students of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar on Monday staged a strong protest in the city, demanding the immediate release of a report by the sub-committee tasked with examining the contentious issue of reservations.
The students took to the streets, expressing their anger over the delay in the committee’s findings. “We have been appealing to the sub-committee to issue the report, but they keep calling the matter sub-judice,” said a protesting student, Adil Ahmad. “As per the law, even if the matter is sub-judice, a committee can still submit its report. Their reluctance to address this issue has caused us immense suffering.”
Another protestor, Sana Wani, said, “The delay in resolving this issue has severely impacted our academic lives. We demand an immediate response from the government.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Earlier in the day, political leader Aga Rahula, along with other political activists, staged a protest near the Chief Minister’s residence in Srinagar, voicing their opposition to the current reservation policy. The leaders criticized the government for failing to address the concerns of students and other affected groups.
“We stand with the students and demand justice. The sub-committee must deliver its report without further delay,” said Rahula during the demonstration.
The protestors highlighted that the government must prioritize resolving the reservation issue to alleviate the hardships faced by students. They vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are met. (KNS)
